Kitchen Design At Military Drive
Designer: Christopher Scott Cabinetry
There’s no better part of the home tour to begin with than the kitchen—particularly when the kitchen is as spectacular as this one. With plenty of light from vaulted windows pouring into this mostly white kitchen, your eye will at once take in the gorgeous brass chandelier and solid brass range hood, marble slab walls, and timeless yet unique cabinetry details, inevitably leaving you in awe. Which is a great way to feel when you’ve got to get dinner on the table anyway.

The marble walls in this kitchen make an incredible statement. Because of the size of the massive marble slabs, you have to ensure the house is structurally engineered to support the weight of solid stone; however, the visual effect is simultaneously grounding, elegantly clean, and cheerful, adding to the brightness of the space.

As the cabinet designer and maker in such a large kitchen, it is important to provide plenty of visual interest without overwhelming the other beautiful design choices in the room. The placement of every cabinet door becomes a balancing act. Which ones get the more dramatic details and which ones take a backseat and simplify the space? Where do we add glass to cabinet doors to let the room breathe and brighten? There are no hard and fast rules, and every cabinet designer has their own cabinetry and design ideas to make a project personal and unique. With this kitchen, we loved playing with proportions and visual symmetry while still making a variety of designs look cohesive and beautifully purposeful.

Kitchen Island Design At Military Drive
The centerpiece of this kitchen’s cabinetry and design ideas is the kitchen island design. It goes without saying—it’s large. Thirteen feet long, specifically. But because of its size, we were able to accomplish so many things we may not have been able to on a smaller scale.
Designer: Christopher Scott Cabinetry
First, seating at a kitchen island this size is a massive bonus that makes gathering in the heart of the home not only possible, but inviting. Next, it’s equipped with a beautiful custom brass sink from Officine Gullo to aid in food prep as the main sink is at the other end of the kitchen. And finally, rather than splitting this one into two smaller islands, we gave the homeowners plenty of surface area to work with as well.
Designer: Christopher Scott Cabinetry
Still, some of the best parts of this custom kitchen island are the unseen elements that make the space so much more functional than a typical kitchen. For instance, hiding behind several of those cabinet door fronts are trash receptacles on either end, a dishwasher, and an icemaker. But there are also supplemental refrigerator and freezer drawers fully integrated into the base cabinetry as well. Because the full-size fridge and freezer are farther away in such a large kitchen, making use of the space in the custom island this way made perfect sense for quick and easy access to commonly used food items.

Office Design At Military Drive
Speaking of the refrigerator and freezer, their seamless integration and integral role in our cabinetry and design ideas was the key to making this custom kitchen as harmonious as possible. With a custom kitchen design, no compromises have to be made in terms of common materials like stainless steel—appliances can almost always be covered up and worked directly into the design of the room.
That said, this kitchen office desk provides just the right amount of distinctive boldness and character to both complement the kitchen’s clean white palette and hold its own in terms of home office design. Many homeowners appreciate a designated task space like this in the kitchen to accomplish most of their work in the heart of the home. It can also double as a convenient homework station close to dinner preparation.

The deep, steely blue used on the kitchen desk cabinetry is the same as what you’ll see in the full office space below. Named Down Pipe by Farrow & Ball, the color is masculine and a bit moody, just to keep things interesting while allowing other decor and display items to really pop.

Bathroom Design At Military Drive
The bathroom cabinetry and design ideas in this largely white custom master bathroom are meant to offer a sense of brightness and cheerful luxury. The cabinets and hardware echo what was seen in the kitchen, as the homeowners loved the unorthodox raised cabinet door fronts. But in the bathroom it made sense to use even more glass and mirrors to reflect the natural light coming from the french doors of the private balcony to balance out the chevroned marble floors.

With each of the subsequent bathrooms in the home, we wanted some continuity—which you’ll see comes in the form of hexagonal tiles, chevron wood flooring, marble countertops, and brass lighting and hardware details—mixed with an individual personality for each room.

This bathroom got a bit more of a unique look with a natural stained wood vanity to contrast the gray and white color scheme found in the rest of the room. The reeded cabinet drawer fronts are a popular traditional look that were modernized by pairing with a flat panel door in the center and minimalistic door and drawer pulls.

A powder bath is one of our favorite spaces in a home to explore more audacious bathroom cabinetry and design ideas. It’s a small, contained area that is easy for homeowners to make a fun statement here, and most guests will also enjoy it as well. In this custom powder bath, we did a completely custom pedestal sink stand that holds up a distinctive marble backsplash and top, and then the Fox Group finished the space with a fun nautical theme.
Built-In Design At Military Drive
Built-in cabinetry is one of the best ways to increase value, function, and personalized style to a home. In this soft mint nursery and the pink bedroom below (both colors boldly used throughout the entirety of their designated rooms), a purposeful decision was made to ensure space in the design for built-in storage drawers, shelving, and closets–a design decision made to not only maximize utility but create character that is fully unique to this home. The additional details of dimensional framing throughout the rooms add to their seamlessly charming design.

This family-centered playroom also makes use of a range of built-in storage from an entertainment center + toy storage unit to built-in bookshelves and a hidden door that leads to the family’s custom theater room. Not only do they offer permanent storage, but it comes in the form of a personalized luxury—even in a playroom.

Another child’s bedroom in this house makes good use of custom built-in bookshelves that double as bedside tables and leave plenty of space for decorative memorabilia, books, and other items that need to be tucked away in the inset drawers.
Living Room Design At Military Drive
The living room cabinetry and design ideas in the Military Drive home reflect much of what has been seen throughout the other spaces—a mostly white palette, broken up by dimensional and wood detailing, custom vent covers, and brass accessories to add visual interest. For the modern custom home, built-in cabinetry is almost always the best way to introduce the style of your home while increasing its value from the moment you walk in the door.

Closet Design At Military Drive
The last customized space in this home renovation is the master closet. The shelving on the walls that leads from the main closet space to the master bath is lined with open shoe shelving for grab-and-go ease, while the bulk of the closet’s contents (visible in part in the mirror’s reflection) are housed in hanging space framed similarly to the rest of the house. The chevron pattern of the wood flooring is also repeated here for a seamless transition from the traditional wood flooring pattern in the closet to the marble chevron flooring of the master bathroom.
